Hot take: Female leaders rule!

Women leaders rule!

Being a woman myself, I’ve seen that when women are given a chance, they can and do prove to lead with strength, respect, and empathy. Which is why the women in The Sable Riders series are strong, decisive, driven and ambitious.

They’re not damsels in distress, waiting for a man to rescue them. Instyead they’re partnering with the men in their world to right wrongs, develop breakthroughs in tech and medicine, challenge the status quo and question evil unreservedly.

The benefits of women leaders are endless: From increased profits to improved social responsibility, communities that uphold women are reaping the rewards. Studies show that female leaders are better at managing teams, multitasking, and finding new solutions and strategies. Additionally, these women bring a unique perspective and understanding to their roles, adding a different level of creativity, collaboration, and innovation. Women leaders are also more likely to take strong stands on social issues, such as equal pay, access to child care, and gender diversity, which further bolsters the wellbeing of communities and nations.

Take for example, Selene Munene, my female lead in The ‘Stars on Fire’ book. She’s strong willed, driven and a diplomat to boot. She’s fighing for the survival of her entire planet.

According to my male lead, Kainan Sable, “She was brave, vibrant, spirited and dynamic. Her determination to fight for her people was admirable, and her fearlessness in asking for what she needed from him and his brothers was brassy as all fokk. She was a vision of rare beauty and intelligence that tore through his every fibre.”

It’s my strong belief that writing a series that places women in positions of leadership not only helps to guide our world towards a place where gender equality is the norm, but it also helps to illustrate a future of endless possibilities for young girls, so that they too can strive for greatness and aim to become formidable leaders one day.

Women are often underestimated and overlooked, but they have the capacity to lead and achieve greater things. I’ve seen it firsthand - women leaders can bring to the table unique insights, perspective, and skills that can make teams and organizations more successful. Because of this, the women in The Sable Riders series are shown to take charge, take risks, and strive towards their goals with confidence. It’s a reminder that when given a chance, women can rise up and be powerful forces in whatever field they choose to be in.
