You are enough!
This is for someone out there - who needs a bit of encouragement today!
This is for the single ladies, the mummas, the workers and the well-deserving stay-at-home-ers. The doers, the shakers, the ‘I’d rather stay in bed all day’-ers.
Those who feel like they need to do more, be more, feel more, give more … because either the kids, hubby, boyfriend, mums group, world, friends and even your own family expects it, demands it, or desires it.
For most women, being the giver is an inbuilt instinct. We can’t help it. It’s in our DNA to care for those we love.
The problem with doing more, giving more, and sacrificing more - without being nurtured and watered yourself - is that it empties your soul and leaves you dried out - emotionally, mentally and spiritually.
And out of the empty comes the pain - the lash out of anger, the bitterness, the sadness, the depression - the silent desperation.
Why am I saying this? Because I sometimes feel this way. Like my books, words, work, sacrifice, giving, and care are not enough. There are so many times in my life - as a wife, mum, friend, and daughter - that I’ve felt I need to do more, be more, and live more.
I’ve had to delve deep inside during those moments of utter despair to make myself STOP. To intentionally stop beating myself up. To take care of me, of my heart and soul. And to remind me that I am enough. I don’t have to do more, be more, or live more to be loved, accepted and understood. Because when I love, accept and understand those around me (starting with myself first), it will inevitably come back to me again.
I want you to know that you are enough—more than enough.
You have everything inside you, all the shards of ancient starlight and stardust - that enable your best life.
So don’t give in to the pressure. Don’t pay heed to the haters. Don’t listen to the naysayers.
Instead, put some music on, dance a little, and shake it off.
Find time to rest, take a breather, and sip a coffee or tea real slow.
Step outside, smell the fresh wind, watch the birds being birds and rejuvenate your soul.
Remind yourself of what truly matters—love, laughter, and life.
More importantly, that you are enough, always enough.
*Live a starlit life!*
